The International City of Comics and the Image organized an exhibition showcasing the vibrancy and diversity of Francophone comics during the 69th Frankfurt Book Fair.
France was the guest of honor at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, which was held from October 11-15, 2017. The City of Comics expo exhibited works in three languages (French, English, German) by around 20 French-speaking authors that focused on seven themes:
- The revival of the genre comic strip
- Humor and satire
- New heroes for younger readers
- Personal stories, interior worlds
- A short journey into the real
- Now formats, new media
- When cinema is inspired by comics
Three soundtracks by G4F for three comic strips were featured in the 300 m² French Pavilion dedicated to the 9th French art: “Persepolis” by Marjane Satrapi, “Journal” by Fabrice Neaud and “L’ascension du Haut Mal” (rise of the great evil) by David B.
The soundtracks were broadcast via sound showers designed by Akoustic Arts. This is a directional speaker system that focuses a narrow beam of sound on a precise area in the same way as a beam of light from a laser, so the sound is heard by the user alone, but without the social isolation produced by wearing headphones.
